PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY: The Curbside team member executes and creates an essential "hands-free" shopping service for TCCP customers by upholding the cooperative values and supporting the cooperative principles through their exceptional customer service and cross-functional abilities. This position will satisfy the Curbside users by ensuring their orders are consistently filled with the products they desire by selecting, transporting, and packing the products with the highest attentive care. Also, the curbside team member will assist and collaborate with other team members in meeting daily sales goals, executing all scheduled curbside pick-up orders, and fulfilling the overall coverage to all service departments that participate in the curbside program. This includes handling all applicable items, operating a phone and POS computer system, carrying out orders, and executing other tasks as requested/needed. Order pickers will also be required to assist within the Front End department as necessary.

Customer Service

  • Provides an exceptional and welcoming experience to every customer.
  • Works to creatively resolve customer issues, turning to the correct supervisor when necessary.
  • Provide guidance for other curbside staff and make decision about the best course of action
  • Upholds daily TCCP Customer Service Standards, putting the interest of the customer first.
  • Provide assistance in the Front End as directed by supervisors.


  • Fulfills customer's Curbside orders with accuracy and in a timely fashion. Making appropriate substitutions and out of stock problem solving as needed with details written communication to be communicated with customer
  • Handles all curbside equipment with respect, care, and attention. Having a higher level as self-awareness as they proceed with themselves and the equipment/cart through the store
  • Completes and assists with grocery bagging, carry out and storage as needed
  • Answers incoming "pick up" phone calls that lead to the tendering and completing of payments
  • Performs other duties of curbside department needs as directed


Technical Skills

  • Understands technical requirements of the job and applies technical knowledge
  • Performs tasks accurately, efficiently, and free from errors.
  • Performs tasks consistently and at an acceptable rate as outlined by your manager/supervisor.
  • Operate cash register according to Co-op policy and expectation.
  • Organizes tasks efficiently, maintains focus and stays productive.
  • Achieves established goals and expected results for the department.



  • Proven ability to provide effective, authentically friendly customer service to a culturally diverse community.
  • Proven ability to effectively listen and communicate with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply various documents such as a department manual, standard operating procedures, employee handbook, union contract, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and maintain focus in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.



  • Prior customer service and cash handling experience, or experience in retail grocery, natural foods, or cooperatives.
  • Knowledge of natural foods and/or cooperatives.
  • Evening and weekend availability.



  • Required Frequently: standing, bending, reaching, repetitive wrist/hand movements (cashiering), walking, extended period of time in cool/cold/wet conditions and lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Required Occasionally: kneeling, squatting, and sitting.
  • Will be required to handle meat, seafood, dairy, and other animal products.
