Full-time, various hours

COMMISSARY/CATERING COOK

Purpose: To accurately and efficiently prepare scratch made deli salads, soups, hot bar items, proteins, platters, and sandwiches while maintaining an extremely high level of cleanliness that exceeds health code. Actively contribute to a positive and safe workspace for all and maintain open lines of communication.

Reports to: Commissary Kitchen Manager

Essential Functions:

  1. Accurately follow and efficiently complete production list assigned by Shift Lead.
  2. Work in a safe manner, following all safety procedures, food safety requirements, cooling procedures and foster a safe, positive, and inclusive work environment.
  3. Assist with catering food production, making deliveries for wholesale accounts and catering orders in a timely manner when needed.
  4. Help with on or off-site events when needed. This includes but not limited to vehicle load-out, event set up, food service, teardown etc.
  5. Provide excellent customers service, help accommodate client requests or answer any questions asked.
  6. Package and label completed recipes correctly for retail, wholesale, and catering use. Understand the dating and tare systems. Weigh and distribute food to multiple locations with the highest accuracy.
  7. Complete end of shift cleaning duties and weekly cleaning projects in a detailed manner.
  8. Record all transfers, credits, and waste accurately and appropriately.
  9. Complete any other tasks assigned by Shift Leads or Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications:

  1. At least 1-2 years' experience cooking in restaurants, cafes, catering, or production kitchens.
  2. Exhibit basic knife skills and a familiarity with natural foods.
  3. Be friendly, flexible, and courteous with co-workers. Stays calm in stressful situations, and is willing to do last minute tasks.
  4. Ability to manage time properly, multitask in a deadline driven kitchen, and give special attention to detail.
  5. Is positive and accepting of feedback and critique.
  6. Cooperative, respectful of others, and fosters a team-focused attitude.
  7. Must have possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Repeated bending and lifting (up to 60 pounds)
  • Exposure to temperature extremes (both hot and cold)
  • Working with knives, ovens, and stove tops
  • Standing and walking for an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to operate company vehicle.
