Linden Hills Co-Op is looking for a Front-End Assistant Manager to join our team. The Front End Assistant Manager will work with the Front End Manager to ensure prompt, friendly, courteous customer service, accurate cash handling, store security and smooth store operations.

Responsibilities:

 

I CUSTOMER SERVICE

  1. Model exceptional customer service skills. Communicate expectations to staff.
  2. Ensure staff is trained in assisting customers within the store by providing information, locating products, explaining membership and providing any other service the customer may need.
  3. Staff are trained and supported to uphold department standards.

 

II PLANNING

  1. Work with the Front End Manager and Store Director to set accuracy and labor goals for department. Review weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and plan corrective action as needed.
  2. Work with Front End Manager to develop and implement approved short and long range department goals.

 

III FRONT END/SCANNING

  1. Ensure accuracy and security of all cash received through front end.
  2. Ensure staff members are aware of price changes, specials, and all changes in store policies and procedures.
  3. Train staff members in security procedures (shoplifters, robberies, disorderly customers)
  4. Ensure bank deposits are completed in a timely and accurate fashion
  5. Ensure accurate and complete scanning system by working with the scanning department to resolve issues
  6. Act as liaison with POS company, ensuring proper functioning and prompt repairs.
  7. Train staff members in security procedures (e.g. dealing with shoplifters, robberies,      disorderly customers, etc.)

 

V PERSONNEL

  1. Ensure on-the-job training of all department staff.
  2. Develop and motivate employees. Model a superior and professional work ethic.
  3. Maintain communication with staff through regular meetings and correspondence.
  4. Schedule hours for department (Cashiers, Customer Service, and Floor Coordinators) within payroll allocation, and review time cards as needed.
  5. Track department attendance, cash accountability, and other department specific metrics.
  6. Hold monthly department and floor coordinator meetings.

 

VI DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE

  1. Maintain display and storage areas in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
  2. Maintain department equipment in working order. Research and recommend major equipment repair and replacement.

 

VII STORE MAINTENANCE AND SECURITY

  1. Assist in the supervision of maintenance projects as needed by the Front End Manager.
  2. Maintain list of repair and maintenance services for Floor Coordinators to call.
  3. Work with the Front End Manager and Store Director to maintain and monitor store security systems; including issue keys and codes.
  4. Work with Front End Manager and Store Director to develop procedures for handling shoplifting, theft, disorderly customers and ensure staff training.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong customer service mindset.
  • Supervision experience--hiring, training, evaluating.
  • Experience developing systems and procedures.
  • Experience serving the public.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and stay calm.
  • Ability to project an outgoing, friendly personality.
  • Communications skills: good listening, clear instructions.
  • Familiarity with natural foods.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
