Catering Sales Lead

Full-time

Location: 2412 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404


PURPOSE: Assist catering and wholesale manager in meeting sales goals and overseeing the
execution of all scheduled events. Help oversee and train additional catering staff as the
department grows. Set an example for the highest standard of performance and customer
service to which all staff will be held.


REPORTS TO: Catering & Wholesale Manager


SALES


Inquiries -- Answer phones and put together proposals for traditional catering events.
Weekly event check for any large events. Ensure the accuracy of the various catering
and wholesale orders: proposals, S.O. requests, waldorf, delivery orders, foodee, taura.
Customer Service -- Make sure customer needs are met and customer complaints and
resolved. Provide guidance for other sales staff and make a decision about the best
course of action. Keep track of all offers/refunds/credits.


EVENT LOGISTICS


Event Paperwork -- Coordinate with other sales staff to ensure all necessary paperwork
is posted and completed on a weekly and daily basis (production lists posted to kitchen,
bakery, and event board, equipment picks finished).
Delivery Schedule -- Help maintain google calendar delivery schedule. Book couriers
and vehicle rentals on a weekly basis. Coordinate with other catering leads to modify
staff schedules to account for pop-up orders.
Events -- Complete catering and wholesale deliveries and setup/teardown events as
needed. Lead full service food & bar events as needed.


STAFF


Training -- Oversee the training of new hires for anything sales or event related.
Continue to develop and maintain training materials for sales and event staff. Including:
planning guidebook with food & bar menu notes, serving & staffing recommendations,
proposal/quote instructions, special order guidelines, buffet presentations, etc.
Feedback -- Client and catering staff liaison, pass along necessary feedback to catering
staff and/or supervisors about any mistakes and suggestions for how to improve.
Communication -- Support Managers and Commissary agenda positively; acts as
communication link between Managers and Catering staff and bring new ideas and
updates to the catering & wholesale meetings. Connect with catering & wholesale
manager on all matters concerning quality and quantity of work performed by staff.
Safety -- Work in a safe manner, following safety procedures, and ensure all catering
staff are following the same procedures.


OUTREACH


Marketing -- Assist the Catering & Wholesale Manager with various marketing
initiatives, including: phone calls, outreach deliveries, follow up emails, etc. Help direct
co-workers for special projects (e.g. outreach, organizing back catering area, new label
system, etc.) during slow sales weeks.
Promotional events -- Help to coordinate any promotional events with catering needs
(specific to catering, requests from Marketing, etc.)
New Projects -- Willingness to take on additional projects that come with any new
catering business ventures.


QUALIFICATIONS


Experience in retail, catering or food service environment
Excellent customer service skills, including ability to project mature, friendly, outgoing
presence
Some experience developing systems and procedures to improve operational efficiency
or customer service
Experience training employees, formally or informally
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, maintaining speed and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to provide clear directions
Basic command of computer skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, Email
Flexible schedule: days/nights and some weekends as event demands dictate
Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicle required


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS


Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting for an 8-hour shift
Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly, occasionally more
