Full-time, overnight shifts

PURPOSE: To assist Bakery Manager in overseeing Bakery operations and personnel. Provide leadership to Bakery staff by developing systems, processes and products that support growth visions. Help Bakery and Commissary departments meet sales, margin and labor goals. To maintain a level of organization and cleanliness that exceeds health code standards.

REPORTS TO: Bakery Manager

SUPERVISES: Direct report bakers




  • Provide day-to-day work direction to Bakery staff.
  • Assist in and/or conduct staff trainings, coaching, disciplines and evaluations.
  • Determine and write (and modify, as needed) schedule to ensure best possible operations and customer service.
  • Cross-trained on all overnight bakery product production.
  • Provide for an encouraging, respectful and appreciative work environment.
  • Lead and/or participate in hiring process with Bakery manager
  • Ensure that staff work in a safe manner.



  • Help Bakery manager achieve sales, margin and labor goals.
  • Conduct and understand the purpose of inventory and be able to explain results to staff.
  • Ensure that ordering, receiving and invoicing procedures are done in accordance with Prep Foods department standards.


  • Ensure functionality, safety and maintenance of equipment and work area.
  • Develop and update procedural systems and guides for maximum efficiency
  • Develop, update and implement daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation procedures.
  • Expansion of select products for wholesale distribution
  • Organic log tracking and process oversight
  • Acting as main contact for bakery/bakehouse operations in absence of the manager


  • Ensure product is made, packaged and shipped maintaining highest quality possible
  • Evaluate sales movement suggest edits additions and replacements from order guide
  • Research and development of new product lines
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • At least 2 years supervisory experience, including participation in hiring and performance management, coaching, and discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience training employees, formally or informally.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a baking operation
  • Relevant experience developing systems and procedures to improve operational efficiency and/or customer service.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to give clear instructions.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to deal respectfully and calmly with challenging people and situations.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to be flexible in the face of changing priorities.


  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. several times daily
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Strong hand functions, & tasting and smelling ability
  • Comprehensible spoken English and ability to perceive spoken voice clearly.
